         Repetitive Strain Injuries

         Sporting Injuries

         Headaches & Migraines

         Stress

         Chronic Pain

What is your philosophy, or belief, about natural healing and the work you do?

My work is based on principles of the founder of Osteopathy, Dr. A T Still, who established the body, has an innate ability to heal itself and that structure and function of the body are intricately related.

I work very holistically not only focusing on the musculo-skeletal structure but also on the circulatory, nervous & digestive system to improve your overall health and wellbeing.

All treatments are tailored to suit you as no two bodies present with the same structure or body symptoms.

What value added services, or products can you add onto consultations?

In conjunction with osteopathic treatment, I offer

         Advice regarding posture

Assessment for the use of postural insoles

Dry Needling for muscular aches and pains

Stretching and rehabilitation advice for effective long term care

Management advice regarding control of aggravating factors

What is the potential impact of not seeing you?

Ignoring the signs and symptoms of the condition or maintaining a ‘no pain no gain’ approach will likely result the development of chronic pain.

This approach can also lead to the development of compensatory patterns which will require longer treatments to resolve and possibly cause unnecessary complications. An example is developing  pre-mature arthritis in injured joints that have not been treated effectively

Appropriate treatment and care can reduce the associated complication making it easier to live a healthy active life and enjoy the things we love.

What would a normal treatment involve?

The treatment starts with a thorough case history followed by physical examination involving range of motion assessment, orthopedic and neurological testing as required.

During treatment, I incorporate a wide variety of techniques including deep tissue massage, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, muscle energy techniques, joint manipulations, dry needling, cranio-sacral therapy and visceral mobilisations to optimise body functioning at a holistic level. All treatments are specific to the needs of the individual and individually tailored with great emphasis on long term management.

Following treatment, I go through a management plan, to optimize treatment results. This includes advice on what to do & what to avoid between treatments to aid a speedy recovery.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of treatments varies because every presentation is different and as a result, all treatments are tailored to maximally suit you. Although, relief is seen following the first treatment session, follow up sessions are required to resolve the underlying pathology of the condition.

Acute may require only 1-2 treatments for maximal relief, however ongoing maintenance is always encouraged as studies indicate that pain patterns are likely to re-occur if not managed effectively on a regular basis. In regards to chronic pain, generally 2-4 treatments are required, spaced out weekly basis, followed by maintenance which varies with every presentation.

The aim is to promote health and wellness and manage your pain as soon as possible so it minimally impacts your daily activities and allow you to do what you love best.
