What main concerns do you treat?

Pilates is a safe and effective form of exercise, which addresses a broad range of concerns. Benefits include:
- Longer, leaner muscles (less bulk, more freedom of movement)
- Improves postural problems
- Increases core strength, stability and peripheral mobility
- Helps prevent injury
- Enhances functional fitness, ease of movement
- Balances strength & flexibility
- Heightens body awareness
- No-impact, easy on the joints
- Can be customized to suit everyone from rehab patients to elite athletes
- Complements other methods of exercise
- Improves performance in sports (golf, skiing, skating etc.)
- Improves balance, coordination & circulation
What is your philosophy or belief about natural healing, and the work you do?
The Pilates philosophy has been developed in close consultation with physiotherapists, chiropractors and exercise physiologists, to ensure that each Pilates class offers you maximum safety and effectiveness.
I have adopted this philosophy and will deliver it with a workout designed to help lengthen, shape and stretch all your muscles and improve your mind-body connection.
What sort of a guarantee can you put on your service?
My guarantee is clients will learn more about their bodies; the way they move and the way they hold themselves. This awareness will form the basis for how to improve posture, reduce likelihood of injury, and increase wellbeing.
What value added services, or products can you add onto consultations?
I can offer clients my suggestion for what specific exercise would benefit them most – exercises for at home or the gym which will help them achieve better alignment.
What is the potential impact of not seeing you?
Postural imbalance, or incorrect technique/exercises, which may lead to harm or injury. Untapped and unrealised optimal physical performance!
What would a normal treatment involve?
- Classes are three-dimensional i.e. using all movement planes
- Emphasis is placed on rebalancing muscles around the joints
- Balancing strength with flexibility (for injury prevention and more efficient movement)
- An improvement in posture and body awareness
How many sessions will I need?
You should feel a physical improvement immediately, and you should see results within 10-12 classes, for the average active person doing 2-3 classes per week. This will vary depending on each individual and other factors such as the number of classes a person takes each week, whether they participate in other physical activities, and whether they have any existing injuries.
Can I claim through private health insurance?
We expect this to be available in July 2011.
What qualifications and experience do you have?
I am STOTT trained in Full Certificate Pilates (Level 2), I also hold a Certificate III in Fitness and a Certificate in Hatha Yoga from the Victorian Institute of Yoga Education & Teacher Training. I regularly attend workshops and seminars on a broad range of health, fitness and wellbeing topics.
My regular Pilates and Yoga practice began in 2003, and I started teaching in 2009.
What are the main worries or concerns your clients have when they come to see you?
Most clients want to initially improve their overall body awareness, core strength, or injury recovery and prevention.
Do you specialise in any areas?
My classes are for anyone wanting to improve their general strength and flexibility, coupled with a strong focus on physical alignment.
I have a special interest in women’s health; having recently had a baby I can offer first hand advice for pre and post natal clients.
